ADAM II VOL.3 summary & excerpts

This title is narrated with virtual voice. Computer Generated Narration for Audiobooks. Adam 2 Volume 3. By B. Camp. Chapter 1 The transfer of Nan's memories and personality from the nanotube computer embedded in Adam's head to the one in the former Elena's body took place quickly and without any complications. However, she didn't awaken immediately. Adam watched as the automated processes drained the gel from the tank, and the fourth cannulas were withdrawn from her veins. A small crimson bead of blood formed as each cannula slid free. But as expected, the sights were rapidly sealed by her nanobots, and her wounds mended with the speed that was visible to his eyes. So many memories tumbled through his head. He remembered the first time he heard her voice. The time they had spent together. Her teasing, and the first time he heard her sing. Those memories blended with the amazement he felt on seeing the beauty of her current form. But all of this was colored by the fear that he might lose her. His worry eased, and Adam released the breath that he had been unconsciously holding, when Nan's eyes opened, and a smile made her already beautiful face even more stunning. She reached for him, and he gently took her in his arms and lifted her from the empty vat. Adam spoke softly and soothingly to Nan, as he carried her to the residential area, and randomly chose a shower. He remembered the initial confusion he experienced upon awakening, and tried to ease any anxiety she might be feeling, by explaining each action he was taking. He entered the shower with her still cradled in his arms, and was pleased to find that unlike the Colorado facility, this facility still had warm water. Adam adjusted the water temperature, and lowered her feet to the floor. He supported her while the warm water washed away the residual gel. She attempted to assist in the endeavor, but her awkward movements did little to hasten the process. In his hurry, Adam had neglected to check the room for towels, but fortunately, the linen closet held several. Between the two of them, they were able to get her reasonably dry without too much trouble, but with more than a few giggles from Nan. Whether the giggles were due to the sensations elicited by the tickling of the towels on her new body, or in response to her awkward attempts to help with the drying, Adam didn't know, nor did he care. She simply took pleasure in the sounds of her laughter. Roe watched as Adam lifted Nan from the vat. Adam was the alpha, and he needed a mate. But why this one? She was small and weak, not even able to move on her own. Maybe she was just a pup, but how could that be? She was small and weak, but she smelled like an adult. She mostly smelled like Adam, but just a little different. Roe's mind had changed over the last several months. He was able to think now, and his memories were strong, but that hadn't always been so. His memory of meeting his alpha was hazy, but he vaguely remembered being small and weak. After he became stronger, he hunted often, and had encountered the young of many different animals. The young were always small and weak, but they smelled different than the adults. He had also interacted with both adult humans and their young, and as with other animals, the adults and young smelled different. Adam had also told him that Nan was the one he was often speaking to. It confused Roe that Adam could talk to her, even when she wasn't there. But the important thing was that she apparently understood Adam. He didn't understand speech when he was young, only when he was older. Therefore, Nan must be older. He didn't fully understand, but it didn't matter. He understood enough. She was a member of their pack now, and he would protect her just as he protected his alpha. He followed his pack members through the cave. Adam allowed Nan to try to walk to the lockers with his support, but her struggle to control her movements became too wearisome, and she once again reached for him. He gathered her in his arms and carried her to the lockers so she could choose the clothing she wanted. It was no surprise to Adam that she chose the clothing that she had worn when she first manifested. He helped her dress as he had helped her shower, and it was no surprise that she wore the clothing just as well in her physical form as she had in that first visual manifestation. Adam.
